We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified finance professional who enjoys combining technical excellence with practical problem-solving. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of the Group's financial reporting, while supporting the wider Finance function and helping drive continuous improvement.
You'll act as a trusted deputy to the Financial Controller, getting involved in everything from statutory reporting and audit management to financial controls, payroll oversight and regulatory compliance.
The role
What you'll be doing:
- Support the delivery of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances or discrepancies.
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation and manage relationships with external auditors.
- Support tax and regulatory reporting, including VAT and other statutory submissions.
- Help maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
- Oversee key financial accounting activities including journals, accruals and month-end reporting.
- Partner with People & Culture and our payroll provider to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant and appropriately controlled.
- Support treasury activities, cash management and banking processes.
- Assist with FCA compliance, risk management and governance requirements.
- Contribute to Board and Audit & Risk Committee reporting.
- Deputise for the Financial Controller when required and provide guidance to colleagues across the Finance team.
What We're Looking For

- Previous experience within a Financial Accounting, Financial Control or Assistant Financial Controller role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
- Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence working with colleagues across different teams and levels of the organisation.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Qualifications

- Individuals working towards a professional accounting qualification who can demonstrate relevant experience.
