Salary: £28,720 - £29,398

Are you passionate about promoting children’s emotional wellbeing and helping pupils thrive in school and life? Do you bring warmth, resilience and a trauma‑informed approach to supporting pupils and their families? Join Chyngton School as our Child & Family Support Practitioner and make a real difference to a welcoming coastal school that values inclusion, kindness and readiness to learn.

About Chyngton School

    • A two-form-entry primary academy in Seaford, East Sussex, serving our diverse community with care and high expectations.
    • We are proud of our inclusive reputation: we support a higher-than-average proportion of pupils with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds and are trusted by families across the area.
    • Since joining the Seaford Learning Trust, pupil outcomes and attendance have improved and we benefit from strong local partnerships — including excellent transition links with Seaford Head School.
    • Our school values — Be safe, Be kind, Be ready for learning — guide daily life and underpin our commitment to every pupil’s development.
    • We are ambitious for the future: plans include a specialist facility opening on site in September 2026 as well as the development of specialist teaching spaces for Music and Art.

About the role

As Child & Family Support Practitioner you will:

    • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families to support regulation, resilience and engagement in learning.
    • Work closely with the Inclusion Leader, SEND team, school staff and external agencies to ensure timely support and referrals.
    • Support behaviour management across the school using restorative approaches and contribute to improving consistency in practice.
    • Maintain accurate records, follow safeguarding processes and support pupils at break and lunch times as required.

This is a hands‑on role where you will directly influence pupils’ day‑to‑day wellbeing and help shape how the school supports its most vulnerable learners.

    • Is organised, reflective and able to monitor pupil progress and adapt support to meet changing needs.
    • Is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences — what matters most is your commitment to pupils’ wellbeing and your ability to have a positive impact in our school community.

What we offer
