St Mary’s is a residential special school and college for pupils / students aged 5 to 19 with speech, language and communication needs, learning difficulties and other associated SEND.

We are seeking to recruit a Finance Administrator. The successful candidate will work in our busy back office as part of our business and admin team. This is a full-time position for 37.5 hours per week over 52 weeks. This post attracts 8 weeks annual leave.

This role involves managing purchase and sales invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely credit control. You will handle banking processes, monthly reconciliations, petty cash, credit card transactions, and support both month end and year end procedures. The position includes coordinating orders, liaising with suppliers and local authorities, and supporting pupil placement costings and agreements. You will also produce a range of documents, maintain databases, ensure effective communication across departments, and keep records audit ready. Strong organisational, communication and Microsoft Office skills are essential. This is a fast-paced role that requires flexibility and initiative, accuracy and attention to detail. The successful candidate must be flexible and be able to work as part of a team. Good IT skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook) and effective communication skills are also required. Previous finance experience is essential, experience in a school setting would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.
