Education

Do you want to make a lasting difference to children and young people whose education is at risk? If you’re passionate about inclusion and skilled in supporting improved school attendance, this role could be right for you.

As an Inclusion Advisor, you will play a key role in improving educational outcomes for children and young people, particularly those who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as those facing specific barriers to education.

Working across Eastbourne & Hailsham, you will provide specialist inclusion expertise to schools, line manage Inclusion Practitioners, and act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for both primary and secondary maintained schools and academy settings.

You will also support schools in adopting therapeutic approaches, in line with East Sussex County Council’s belief that these approaches are most effective in meeting the needs of pupils who have experienced ACEs.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience of teaching children with additional needs and working with their families, including children with difficult and dangerous behaviour.
  • Have experience of working in a multi-agency context and building productive relationships with professionals, settings and services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the legislative framework surrounding education, including safeguarding, suspensions and exclusions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practice in meeting the needs of learners in mainstream settings, including Therapeutic Thinking, trauma-informed practice and strategies to reduce exclusions.

Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for more information.

To apply for this role, please follow the ‘Apply Now’ button above and upload your Expression of Interest. Expressions of interests should contain a written summary of no more than the equivalent of two sides of A4 size paper describing how you meet the requirements of the job description and person specification.
