We are seeking a diligent and proactive IT Asset Engineer to join our team in Brighton. This role involves the refurbishment, repair, and redeployment of IT assets across the organisation, ensuring all equipment meets defined quality standards. Working closely with the IT Asset Team Leader, the successful candidate will help maintain an accurate and up-to-date asset database. The IT Asset Engineer will also play a key role in supporting asset recovery processes and contributing to cost-efficiency initiatives within the IT department.

Responsibilities
About the role:

Refurbish and Repair IT Assets: Conduct repairs and refurbishment of laptops, smartphones, and other IT equipment to extend their lifespan. This includes diagnosing hardware issues, replacing faulty components, and ensuring devices are fully functional before redeployment.

Asset Recovery: Implement and manage automated asset recovery processes to ensure high recovery rates of IT assets from leavers.

Database Management: Keep the asset management database up to date with accurate records of refurbished and redeployed devices.

Compliance and Standards: Ensure all refurbished devices meet compliance standards, including ISO27001.

Reporting: Produce detailed reports on refurbishment activities, asset recovery rates, and cost savings.

Stock Management: Maintain a buffer stock of refurbished devices for urgent needs and manage just-in-time procurement processes.

Collaboration: Work with internal IT teams and suppliers to improve asset management processes and device compliance.

Training and Support: Provide training and support to field engineers and other staff on asset management best practices.
About you:
Essential Criteria:

Technical Skills: Proven experience in repairing and refurbishing IT equipment, including laptops and smartphones. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair techniques.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a good understanding of compliance standards. Ability to identify and address issues accurately and efficiently.

Analytical Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other tools to interpret and manipulate datasets. Capable of analysing data to inform decision-making and improve processes.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Organisational Skills: Strong planning and organising skills, able to prioritise effectively based on organisational impact and urgency. Experience in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Initiative: Ability to use initiative to improve commonly used processes and contribute to cost-saving measures. Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Experience in developing and implementing effective solutions.

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams and departments. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
Desirable Criteria:

Experience with ITSMs: Familiarity with IT Service Management systems to manage incidents and requests.

Knowledge of ITIL Processes: Understanding of ITIL processes and standards.

ISO27001 Compliance: Knowledge of ISO27001 standards and compliance requirements.
