What You’ll Do At Elekta:

The Patent Engineer serves as a bridge between the Intellectual Property (IP) team and the engineering organisation. The Patent Engineer will help identify and evaluate inventions arising from research and development activities, in collaboration with qualified Patent Attorneys. The role will support invention harvesting, prior art and novelty assessments, competitor monitoring, patent portfolio management, and IP awareness initiatives across the business. The role is designed for a recent engineering graduate (or equivalent) with strong technical curiosity, communication skills, and an interest in innovation and IP.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with engineering and product development teams to identify, capture and assess innovations with patent potential.
  • Support invention disclosure reviews, prior-art searches and patentability assessments in collaboration with Patent Attorneys.
  • Maintain and support the development of Elekta's patent portfolio, ensuring accurate records and effective portfolio management.
  • Monitor competitor activity, technology trends and intellectual property landscapes to provide valuable business insights.
  • Promote intellectual property awareness through training, guidance materials and engagement with technical teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IP processes, innovation management tools, reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Bring:

  • University education in science or engineering (or equivalent) with an ability to understand technical concepts in any of the following fields: electronics, physics or software
  • Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience
  • Interest in patents, IP, innovation management or technology commercialisation
  • Familiarity with scientific literature reviews, patent databases, or technical searching
