Do you want to work in a varied and challenging role focused on managing flood risk in East Sussex? If so, we are recruiting for a Principal Flood Resilience Officer as part of our busy Flood Risk Management Team.

You will be manager in delivering the LLFA role in East Sussex. This will involve a variety of workstreams including, leading section 19 flood investigations, commenting on the flood risk implications of major development proposals, reviewing and developing policy and processes. You will also be involved in working with flood affected communities, developing flood resilience projects, securing funding, and delivery. Mentoring and coaching team members will also feature.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience of working in, with or be familiar with the work of a Lead Local Flood Authority.
  • Have a working knowledge of current drainage design and wider flood risk management techniques and policies.
  • Can work to deadlines whilst managing a diverse caseload.
  • Can communicate effectively with a range of people in a clear, concise and accurate manner, changing messages and/or style to suit different audiences.
  • Are able to analyse, interpret and clearly present complex data in an accessible manner.
