Chassis Motion within Motion Control is responsible for Vehicle Dynamics Performances and Chassis systems delivery
Job purpose
Development of innovative chassis systems and components (ride, handling and steering), aiming to improve the customer experience from the perspective of vehicle performance, efficiency, durability and reliability
Key duties and responsibilities
- Collaborate in software specification creation and testing of vehicle dynamics control systems and application software.
- Collaborate to develop and apply advanced controls techniques for use in Active Chassis systems with specific focus on performance improvement of handling, ride and NVH attributes.
- Verification and validation of control systems at vehicle level and system level with integration into vehicles from prototype demonstrators to series production and documentation of these activities.
- Build on existing Chassis control systems and use measured vehicle data to improve application and capability.
- Implement software development processes according to ISO26262 standards and associated documentation and validation needs.
- Collaborate with Chassis CAE team to develop and correlate system performance.
- Ensure harmonized interaction of all Chassis commodities impacted from the software.
- Interact with ECU suppliers, component engineers, the simulation dynamics teams
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and drive resolution of development problems and error states.
Experience and qualifications
Essential experience
- Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics (VeD) and Active Chassis components.
- Experience integrating active suspension models into full vehicle CAE tools.
- Knowledge and understanding of embedded control systems and electrical networks.
- Experience using Software development tools e.g. CANape and/or INCA.
Preferred experience
- Excellent technical capability with all MS office products
- Understanding of requirements capture tools such as Polarion/Doors
- Experience of CAD tools such as Teamcentre and VIS Mock up
- Knowledge of vehicle network architecture
- Experience using of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow
- Experience of embedding control systems logic into full vehicle simulation
Essential education/ qualifications
- Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline
Preferred education/ qualifications
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and/or other Control System Design
- Competence in using data acquisition and post-processing tools
