Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Service Coordinator to join our Chesham House team in the Sussex Area. You will join us on a part-time, fixed term basis until 31st January 2027 and in return, you will receive a salary of £13.49 per hour (FTE £24,552 per annum).
The successful candidate would need to live within the area surrounding Chesham House, working within the county of Sussex. Covering all of the geographical county, working from home and from Chesham House Lancing as required.
About the Service Coordinator role:
You will assist the Regional Relationship Manager in ensuring that the Chesham House service is delivered in line with the service requirements.
In order to fulfil this role, the successful candidate will need a full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use car insurance. Business mileage will be reimbursed via expenses.
Hours: 14 hours per week, 7 hours a day, on a Wednesday and Thursday

- Experience of working with volunteers and/or volunteer-led support groups (Desirable)
Knowledge
- Knowledge and experience of general administrative processes and maintaining databases

- To assist the Regional Relationship Manager in ensuring that the Chesham House service is delivered in line with the service requirements.
- To help with the day-to-day coordination of the service(s) including arranging appropriate cover, matching volunteers to shifts, dealing with enquiries, complaints, assisting with the recruitment of volunteers and delivering volunteer training.
- To take responsibility for increased inclusivity amongst older people within a given geographical area (Sussex).
- Working directly with individuals, members of the public, professionals and RVS Staff, to develop and oversee the implementation of new social groups and clubs based at Chesham House and in the wider Sussex area. To review and adjust this plan as required.
- To monitor and assist a team of Royal Voluntary Service volunteers within an allocated geographical area (Sussex) to cover the needs of Chesham House and within any Social groups and clubs at either Chesham House or in the wider community, that are managed by RVS.
- To work within an allocated geographical area (Sussex) working collaboratively, effectively and appropriately, with all stakeholders, influencing and broadening the help RVS can offer the community of Sussex.
- To ensure that all service interventions and other key service(s) data is correctly recorded on relevant Royal Voluntary Service databases and that these are kept up to date in line with RVS policies and procedures.
- To plan, attend, deliver and contribute to local area volunteer and service(s) meetings as required.
- To report any service shortfalls or potential areas of growth to the wider Sussex RVS team at an early stage to allow for the appropriate action to be taken.

- To take an active part in the promotion of the RVS within the wider community and within Chesham House. To allow the RVS team to take full advantage of promotional opportunities offered within an allocated geographical area (Sussex).
- To Comply with associated statutory standards, policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection, Financial Controls etc.
- To conduct general administrative duties including maintaining Management Information Systems, data entry, dealing with correspondence, answering calls etc.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties and training commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post. These could include but are not limited to, taking monies at clubs, processing banking deposits etc

Is confident in the use of case management systems, staff rota planning and other data management systems. Is happy to ensure compliance with legislation, and protection of the health, safety and wellbeing of clients, self, volunteers and all other employees.

Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload. Is able to adapt to changing circumstances with a degree of self-direction. Is happy to work under own initiative and with the wider RVS team in West Sussex and Nationally. Is happy to give talks and presentations to all stakeholders, to help with the growth of local services. Is happy to help with the planning and delivery of promotional events for the betterment of all RVS services. Is happy to plan and deliver social groups within West Sussex, including at Chesham House.
