Background

Schroders Wealth Management has an ambitious transformation agenda over the next three years, focused on building a modern, resilient and scalable operating model. This role is critical to helping Wealth Operations land change effectively by building operational readiness, connecting the right subject matter experts, supporting user acceptance testing and ensuring new ways of working are embedded successfully across multiple concurrent programmes.

Role Overview

The Transformation Business Partner will act as the dedicated link between Wealth Operations and the Group-led transformation agenda. The role will help ensure change is well understood, well planned and successfully adopted across Operations, with BAU service, colleague experience, client outcomes and the control environment at the heart of delivery.

The role holder will own the operational view of the transformation roadmap, connect dependencies across programmes, and work collaboratively with delivery teams to shape practical, high-quality outcomes. The role will also drive change from within Operations by building capability, encouraging a stronger change culture, and scaling low-code/no-code and AI-enabled opportunities where they improve efficiency, resilience and control.

This is a senior partnering role requiring strong judgement, credibility and autonomy. The role holder will represent the operational voice in transformation planning and governance, influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, and help balance transformation pace with operational readiness, service quality, control and sustainable adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior transformation partner for Wealth Operations, ensuring the operational impact of change is understood, planned and managed effectively across the portfolio.
  • Own and maintain the Operations change roadmap, providing a clear view of delivery sequencing, dependencies, resource requirements, SME engagement, readiness milestones and cumulative change load.
  • Represent the operational voice in transformation planning and governance, ensuring operational requirements, constraints, controls and adoption considerations are factored into delivery decisions.
  • Coordinate operational engagement across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring the right teams and subject matter experts are involved at the right stage to shape strong, sustainable outcomes.
  • Support change readiness, implementation planning and user acceptance testing, ensuring operational impacts, training needs, procedural changes and control requirements are fully understood before go-live.
  • Work with delivery teams to shape plans that protect service quality, strengthen adoption, reduce operational complexity and deliver better outcomes for clients, colleagues and the control environment.
  • Build a deep understanding of the current and target operating models, connecting process, technology, people, controls and accountability changes across Operations.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate Group-led transformation by aligning operational SMEs, clarifying requirements, simplifying processes and enabling practical delivery.
  • Drive change from within Operations by building local change capability, improving ways of working and supporting leaders and teams to adopt a more proactive, continuous improvement mindset.
  • Develop and scale low-code/no-code, automation and AI-enabled opportunities across Operations, ensuring solutions are reusable where appropriate and implemented with suitable governance, controls and ownership.
  • Provide clear, concise updates on operational readiness, delivery progress, change load, dependencies and required decisions to Operations and Transformation leadership.

The knowledge, experience and competencies you need:

  • Significant experience in transformation / PMO / business change gained within a complex wealth management organisation.
  • Strong understanding of wealth management operations, including how to maintain BAU performance, service quality, controls and client outcomes during periods of significant change.
  • Proven experience working with senior stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance and Transformation to shape delivery plans, resolve competing priorities and support decision-making.
  • Demonstrable ability to influence without direct authority, constructively challenge delivery assumptions and represent operational considerations with credibility and confidence.
  • Experience supporting or leading operational readiness, user acceptance testing, implementation planning, training, procedure updates and post-implementation support.
  • Ability to understand current and target operating models, identify practical delivery considerations, and translate strategic change into operationally workable outcomes.
  • Strong judgement and prioritisation skills, with the ability to assess cumulative change load, dependencies, readiness and operational capacity across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Good understanding of operational risk, control design and the importance of delivering change in a way that supports positive client, regulatory and reputational outcomes.
  • Interest in automation, low-code/no-code tooling, AI and continuous improvement, with the ability to identify scalable opportunities that improve efficiency and control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify complex change, risk and dependency issues for different audiences.
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable operating with ambiguity and autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
  • Resilient, collaborative and outcome-focused, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of execution.
  • Professional qualifications in change management, project delivery, business analysis, operational excellence or wealth/asset management are desirable.
