Background:
World Hope International is a Christian relief and development non-governmental organization (NGO) working in Sierra Leone with vulnerable and exploited communities to alleviate poverty, suffering, and injustice through Health, Education, Anti-trafficking, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture, and Livelihood interventions. We operate in the North, South, and East, and have had a head office in Freetown since 1996.
Job Purpose: Our Enable the Children (ETC) program supports children living with disabilities—providing physiotherapy, occupational therapy, family education, and inclusive community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with home visits, helping deliver therapy, psychosocial, and practical support to children with disabilities
- Support the running of developmental therapy groups for children and caregivers
- Help facilitate family support meetings, community sensitizations, and special events
- Provide training and guidance to families and teachers to improve children’s life skills and behavior
- Assist in equipment distribution (mobility aids, school supplies, toys)
- Promote community inclusion and awareness for children with disabilities
- Maintain case documentation and work closely with therapists and family support workers on complex cases
- Participate in team coordination, planning sessions, and peer learning
- Uphold WHI’s values of dignity, inclusion, compassion, and respect
Qualification:
- Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Care Education, Social Work, Special Education, or related field
- Experience or strong interest in working with children with disabilities
- Willingness to work across diverse Freetown communities, including hilltops and informal settlements
Expected Salary: SLE 1,500
Contract Duration: 12 Months
