This Product Owner role leads the Benefits You App, a core Mercer consumer engagement application scaling globally across non-US markets. You will be the primary point of contact between cross-functional engineering squads, business stakeholders, sales leaders, and regional implementation teams—ensuring that product decisions drive market expansion, seamless data integration with MMB ecosystem systems, and exceptional user experience across diverse markets.
Within the Change & Transformation team and Agile Scrum framework, you will own the product roadmap, manage the product backlog, prioritize regional demands, and ensure delivery of customer and user needs for a rapidly scaling mobile platform.
What You'll Own
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and communicate the product vision for BYA, aligned with global expansion strategy and MMB ecosystem integration roadmap Create a prioritized product roadmap reflecting market expansion opportunities, data integration dependencies, and UX enhancement initiatives
- Balance competing regional and functional demands while maintaining a coherent product strategy
- Collaborate with other POs across the MMB ecosystem to ensure seamless data flows and feature dependencies
- Ensure the Product Backlog is continuously refined, prioritized, and aligned to the product roadmap and business budget
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Sales to understand customer needs, pain points, and competitive opportunities; ensure sales enablement on new features
- Coordinate with Compliance teams on regulatory requirements across markets
- Support the business in building strong customer relationships through proactive product knowledge sharing
- Understand and articulate regional demands, priorities, and market-specific pain points
- Lead prioritization discussions that balance global product consistency with local market needs
- Resolve regional functional and training issues while preventing scope creep
- Provide visibility into regional adoption progress and product value realization
- Collaborate effectively with technical teams.
Squad Leadership & Scrum Ceremonies
- Act as the primary reference point for your Agile Squad (Squad Lead, Developers, QA Engineers) on product decisions, priorities, and vision
- Participate in and drive Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
- Partner with the System Analyst to maintain clarity on feature scope, technical dependencies, and user stories
Feature Ownership & Business Value
- Take end-to-end ownership of new mobile features: understand business value, define acceptance criteria, and verify delivery
- Work with the Systems Analyst to capture functional, performance, and data integration requirements
- Translate market expansion opportunities and UX improvements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria and business outcomes
- Lead feature showcases and demonstrations to business stakeholders and regional teams
- Verify that deliverables meet acceptance criteria and secure sign-off from business stakeholders

Required Experience
- Solid experiencer as a Product Owner or Product Analyst working as part of an Agile team (Scrum framework preferred)
- Deep understanding of Agile principles and hands-on experience with Scrum ceremonies, user story refinement, and backlog prioritization
- Proficiency with task management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent)
- Excellent Microsoft Office products knowledge, including Excel, Visio, and Teams
- Fluency in Spanish (required for regional stakeholder management)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate vision to diverse audiences
Highly Valued
- Mobile app product experience—understanding of mobile-specific UX patterns, performance constraints, platform differences (iOS/Android)
- Insurance industry experience
- Global product experience—managing products across multiple markets, regions, and time zones
- Experience working in complex ecosystems—integrating with multiple systems, managing data dependencies, coordinating with other product teams
- Change management and system adoption expertise—understanding how to drive user adoption and measure success
- Data integration experience—comfort discussing APIs, data flows, and system interdependencies
- Evidence-based decision-making—experience with analytics, metrics, and data-driven prioritization
